1989 Loyal Frisbie
Frisbie became the editor of the family-owned Polk County Democrat in Bartow in 1946. He maintained that position for 18 years and served as publisher for 17 years, receiving numerous awards for editorial leadership and outstanding service to his community and the newspaper industry.
Frisbie taught journalism as an adjunct professor at Florida Southern College for a number of years. He was awarded a Doctor of Letters degree by the college in 1985 and honored as its Outstanding Journalism Alumnus in recognition of his commitment to journalism and to aspiring student journalists.
