The Florida Press Association provides many membership benefits. Please view some of them below:
Free Legal Consultation
You can get fast, accurate answers to the hundred-and-one questions you encounter every day -- from postal matters to state regulations -- just by calling FPA headquarters. FPA retains an attorney and CPA to help answer member questions in these areas and many more. On critical legal questions affecting wide segments of the industry, FPA may even enter a case as a friend of the court. Contact Sam Morley at firstname.lastname@example.org or 321-283-5353 or call the FPA Legal Hotline at 1-877-NEWSLAW (639-7529).
FPA maintains a year-round watch on the Florida Legislature and its committees, including a comprehensive bill analysis. Weekly reports are sent via email to all FPA members during each legislative session, and special legislative reports are provided as necessary. Contact Sam Morley at email@example.com or 321-283-5353.
Advertising Network Opportunity
Would you like the opportunity to receive a rebate at the end of each year? By participating in the Classified and Display Networks, this is possible. These networks are setup to be a benefit to all FPA members, and ANF would love for your newspaper to take advantage of extra revenue opportunities by selling ads into the networks. For more information contact Linda West at firstname.lastname@example.org or 321-283-5276.
You will receive a Florida Press e-bulletin every other week, which includes upcoming events around the state, workshops being held by FPA and updated information pertaining to your fellow newspapers. If you would like to subscribe additional individuals, contact Kendra Schubert at email@example.com or 321-283-5344.
As a member of the Florida Press Association you will receive a listing in the online membership directory. The directory is used by the public and advertisers to look up detailed information on Florida newspapers.
Free Classified Ads
Trying to buy or sell equipment or supplies, or find a special employee? We'll run your 200-word or less, ad on our web site. FPA also offers free employment referrals for member newspapers on news people who are job hunting. A quick call to the FPA office will get you this information. Email ads to Kendra Schubert at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This summer meeting offers knowledgeable speakers and presentations with information you can take back home and use to make your newspaper and business better. Getting together with other publishers, editors, and industry suppliers is just one benefit of attending the convention. As a member of the Association you will receive special member-only pricing to this and other events.
Member newspapers can enter two annual contests: advertising (classified and display) and editorial (which includes writing, photography, graphics, etc.). Leading newspaper professionals from other states judge these contests, giving written critiques to help you improve your product. The editorial contest is for weekly newspapers only. A similar contest is conducted by the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors for member dailies. Awards for the editorial contest are presented each year at the summer convention. If you have any questions regarding membership with the Florida Press Association, contact Devon Dunkle at email@example.com or 321-283-5272.
