This designer will have the ability to plan and design Sunday A-1 as well as Metro, Business and occasionally some Features sections. Skills: Able to organize information and create simple and stylish pages with readability and utility as top goals. Must be able to juggle multiple tasks, including learning our Web content-management system, Drupal. Is comfortable working with words to create information-based pages. Can help craft headlines with personality. Has basic copy editing ability: can read for style, grammar, spelling, meaning, length and completeness and writes headlines and cutlines. Conceptual skills: Must be able to use conceptual thinking and imagination for our many topical and analysis-driven stories. Can work with a group to brainstorm ideas and execute them. Multimedia skills: Experience with Web design, video and audio editing, Flash, etc., is a plus. People skills: Must have excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills. Must be able to effectively communicate using a phone and various computers. Education and experience: Bachelor's degree required. Must have at least two years of journalism experience that includes page design and copy editing.
